John Helton, 84, Quincy, died Thursday at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born in Saylor, Ky., he was the son of Carlo "Buddie" and Edna (Jones) Helton. He married Celetia Brock on Nov. 24, 1937, and she survives.

He was a coal miner in Kentucky and also worked at Beverage Paper Company, Indianapolis.

He was a member of House of Prayer, Cloverdale.

Additional survivors include two sons, Johnny Ray Helton and wife Sherry, Mountain View, Ark., and Billow Crow Trueblood and wife Janet, Cloverdale; two sisters, Elvie Helton, Storyfork, Ky., and Wanda Lee Belcher, Indianapolis; a brother, Wylond "Fuzz" Helton, Brazil; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Helton, sisters Claire Sizemore, Reval Wix, Sylvia Collins and Jessie Helton, brothers Jonas, Junior, Bob and Logan Helton, grandson Gary Wayne Helton, granddaughter Gail Marie Bartholemew and great-great-granddaughter Victorian Rose Wood Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at House of Prayer, Cloverdale, with Brother Wayne Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.

Visitation is 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
