Robert L. White Sr., 93, Greencastle, formerly of Brazil, died Tuesday, January 31 at The Waters of Greencastle.

Born in Terre Haute, he was the son of Ernest and Emma (Giffel) White.

He graduated from Garfield High School. He was the district manager for the Terre Haute Star before working in the family owned White Beverage Beer Distributing Co. in Terre Haute in the late 1940s. While living in Pimento, the family started up the Transit Terminal Trucking Co. where he worked until he moved to Arlington, Va. While in Arlington, he managed People's Drug Store. He retired in 1976 and returned to Terre Haute. He lived in Ce-Mar Estates and attended Sacred Heart Church. In 1985, the family moved to Brazil and attended Annunciation Church. In 2000, they moved to Greencastle to be with their son. He was a member of TPA and Knights of Columbus.

He married Helen C. Wassel on Sept. 27, 1931. They were the oldest married couple in the Indianapolis Archdiocese until her death in 2004, being married 73 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan Whittaker and husband Richard, Spotsylvania, Va.; a son, Robert White Jr. and wife Debi, Greencastle; 21 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Annunciation Church in Brazil, with Rev. Stephen Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Friday at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Rosary at 7 p.m.
