Fred E. Bunten, 82, Fillmore, died Thursday at Hendricks Regional Health.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Clyde and Mary Alpha (Storm) Bunten. He was a 1941 graduate of Fillmore High school.

He married Jane Lucille Grimes on May 16, 1943.

Bunten was an United State Navy Veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a graduate of the Indiana Barber College.

Bunten had worked at DePauw University until retirement in 1988. He had previously worked at Farm Bureau Co-op and the Zinc Mill, Greencastle.

Survivors include his wife, three sons, Ronnie Bunten and wife, Anita, Brownsburg; Steven Bunten and wife, Kelly, Fillmore; Carey Bunten and wife, Donna, Roachdale; a daughter, Sandra Cosner, Indianapolis; a sister, Margaret Nelson, Greencastle; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jeffrey Dean Bunten; and brothers, Don, Marion, and Henry Bunten.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
