Irene Helen Bond, 79, Greencastle, formerly of Atlantic City, N.J., died Sunday at the Waters of Greencastle.

Born in Atlantic County, N.J., she was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Bias) Vegus.

She had retired from Resorts International in Atlantic City, having worked as a switchboard operator, in 1997. She had previously worked as a dispatcher with the Atlantic City Police Dept., and as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone, Clay County, Brazil.

Survivors include son Chuck Bond, Greencastle; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Norman Bond, and granddaughter, Becky Pierce.

Private family services will take place at a later date. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
