Elizabeth L. Baughman, 81, Greencastle, died Friday morning at Asbury Towers Healthcare.

Born in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of John and Lilah (Ziemer) Bowden.

She attended Beaver Dam (Wis.) High School in 1942, Wayland Acad-emy and Junior College in Beaver Dam in 1943, earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1946, and a bachelor of library science from the University of Wisconsin Library School in 1947.

She also had many positions such as a librarian in the Green Bay Public Library in 1948, social studies librarian at the University of Oregon Library in 1949-51, assistant circulation librarian from 1951-53, circulation librarian from 1953-55, assistant librarian at DePauw University from 1955-62, acting head librarian at DPU from 1961-62, and part-time librarian at the Putnam County Public Library from 1979-93. She was involved in many organizations such as the American Library Association, American Association of University Women, DePauw Women's Club, P.E.O. Tuesday Reading Circle in Greencastle and the Woman's Club. One of her greatest honors was the John J. and Eizabeth Bowden Baughman Faculty Fellowship at the University in 2003. She was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church in Greencastle, and A.A.U.W. Scholarship for the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She married John Baughman on Aug. 26, 1961. He survives.

Also surviving are a son, John Baughman, Indi-anapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Phillip Bowden.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church in Greencastle with Pastor Larry Burton and Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.
