Bill A. Caldwell, 76, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Martinsville, died Tuesday at Phoenix Baptist Hospital.

Born in Martinsville, he was the son of Charles Caldwell and Pauline (Allen) Caldwell.

He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1948 and worked at the Indiana University Chemistry Department for 10 years. He also worked for Twigg Corp. in Martinsville and recently worked in Hydraulic Product sales. He also worked at the family grocery store in Martinsville, Caldwell's Market. He had lived in Arizona for 21 years.

He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, Gosport, and the Traveling Turtles Camping Club.

He married Sharyl (Bullerdick) Caldwell on Dec. 21, 1978. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Charles and Steve Caldwell, both of Indiana; one daughter, Charlene Taylor, Newburg; one stepson, Kevin Stringer, Chicago; one sister, Judy Hamilton, Trafalgar; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Neal and Summers Mortuary, Martinsville. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gosport

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at Neal and Summers Mortuary and one hour prior to funeral services on Saturday.
