Mary Lou Thompson Skelton, 87, Carmel, died Tuesday morning at Carmel Care Center.

Born in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Hugh and Katie (Chamness) Hammond.

A 1936 graduate of Greencastle High School, she had retired from Western Electric in 1983. She had attended the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rockville.

She married Emory Vern Thompson on Dec. 22, 1936. He died in 1981. She married Roy "Buck" Skelton in Nov. 1986. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Kay Siersdale and husband Tom, Indianapolis; son Jay Thompson and wife Katherine, Greencastle; stepson David Skelton, Lafayette; brother C.B. Hammond and wife Marilyn, Indianapolis; sister Janet Ingersoll, Indianapolis; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Alan Small officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery, Greencastle.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
