Bill "Billy" Phillips, 56, Reelsville, died at 8:49 p.m. Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born in Madison County, Mo., he was the son of James and Flora (Acuff) Phillips.

He had worked for several businesses around Brazil and Danville, Ill., most recently at Great Dane Trailers, as well as bartending and managing Hunter's Lounge with his wife. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 274, Moose Lodge 780, and Sons of the American Legion Post 2.

On July 3, 1999 he married Gloria Green at their home near Manhattan. She survives.

Also surviving are sons Billy Phillips, and Jim Phillips and wife Jessica, Brazil; stepchildren, Dake Detro and wife Jennifer, Russellville, Dondra Custis, Reelsville, and Chad and Cathy McLin, Brazil; sisters and brothers Hazel Davis, Missouri, Paul Phillips, Tennessee, Earl Phillips, Florida, Cletus Phillips, Illinois, Lyndall Phillips, Illinois, Katie Phillips, Alabama, and Geraldine Hail, Missouri; six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, and several nieces, nephews other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Norma, Judy and Maggie, and brothers Milford and Jessie.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Pastor Bobby Hopper of Fillmore Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday.
