Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fillmore Cemetery for Fred R. Hanks, 53, Fillmore, who died Saturday morning at Putnam County Hospital.
The son of Alfred R. "Buck" and Virginia (Truesdel) Hanks, he was a journeyman iron worker for local 22 in Indianapolis. He was also a volunteer fireman, Mason, and a member of American Legion Post 58, Greencastle.
He married Mary Jane Walker on April 27, 1974. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Freddie Hanks and wife Kim, and Robert Heller and wife April, all of Fillmore; daughter Tina Valentine and husband Dane, Terre Haute; brother Tony Hanks and wife Cynthia, Greencastle; sisters Janet Caldwell, Kokomo, and Debbie Wachal and husband John, Greencastle; mother Virginia Hanks, Fillmore; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandson.
Officiating at graveside will be Rev. Bobby Hopper.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.
