Mary Elizabeth Patton Buckner, 102, Greencastle, died Sunday at Hickory Creek at Sunset.

Born in Connersville, she was the daughter of Henry and Mattie Patton.

She was a homemaker, and had worked at Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, Kappa Gamma sorority, both at DePauw University. She had also worked at the BannerGraphic in Greencastle, and was an active member of the Senior Citizen Kitchen Band for many years and the Needlework Club. She and her husband were active members of Bethel A.M.E. Church and she was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church until her death.

She married Rev. William Pat Buckner, and they moved to Greencastle from Brazil in 1929. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary "Billie" Wilson and LaVerta Terry, both of Bloomington, and Catherine Juanita Mason, Pemberton, N.J.; a son, W.P. Buckner Jr. and wife Jane Terrando, Cypress, Texas; a sister, Martha Louise Griffie, Indianapolis; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Obama Kuginnga "George Henry" Buckner; sisters Lula Mae Reynolds, Esther Utley and Catherine Oliver; brothers Henry U., Eugene, Obediah "Pat", Amos, Robert Lee and Jarel Patton; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. P.T. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
