Alvie Leroy Stadler, 88, Ladoga, died Tuesday at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

Born in Terre Haute, he was the son of the late James Ross and Della Alice Gillespie Stadler.

He married Alice E. Estes Nov. 30, 1935 at Greencastle, and she survives.

He worked in an Electric Steel Foundry in Indianapolis and later at Allison's in Indianapolis; also Service Lumber in Ladoga. He was a self-employed carpenter for several years and retired from Town & Country Lumber in Crawfordsville.

He was a member of Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene where for more than 50 years he served in various positions including Sunday School superintendent, song leader, Sunday School teacher, and board member.

Additional survivors include a son, Ivan Stadler and wife Dorothy, Harrisonburg, Pa.; a daughter, Sharon Dunigan and husband James, Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lola Bernice Thompson, Ladoga, and Flossie Million and husband Charles, Ladoga.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters including Bernard "Pappy" Stadler.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene, 117 E. SR 234, Ladoga with Pastor Ron Milburn officiating.

Visitation will be 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga.
