Born in Minneapolis, Minn., he was the son of Walter George and Ruth Brooke Geraldine (Gamble) Trotman.
A graduate of Indiana University, he was a teacher at Martinsville High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church in Whiting and the F. & A.M. No. 613, Whiting. He was also a member of the Terre Haute Valley of the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include a daughter Jennifer Sue Trotman, Indianapolis; a son Gregory Ross Trotman and wife Kim, Novi, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
