Born in Fern, Ind., he was the son of the late Alford and Cleo (Rollings) McMains. He married Alberta F. Kennedy on June 15, 1952, in Brazil, and she survives.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he later worked as a production manager at Coca-Cola Bottling Company before retiring after 41 years of service. Following retirement, he was employed with Haberly's Metal Fabrication and the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation.
He was a member of Lakeville United Methodist Church, was a 50-year member of Knightsville Lodge No. 409, F.&A.M., 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 238, Knightsville, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Vicki E. Fritz and husband Kenneth, South Bend; four grandchildren; a brother, Ezra McMains and wife Gladys, Greencastle; and four nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Perry McMains, and a nephew.
A masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, with a funeral service to follow, officiated by Rev. Larry Dimick.
Burial will be Wednesday at Calcutta Cemetery, Brazil.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
