Kathryn Eccles, 82, Greencastle, died Thursday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ralph and Lorna (McKinnon) Wann.

She was a graduate of Orwell High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from Hiriam College, Ohio, and her master's degree in counseling from Indiana University.

She married Robert S. Eccles on Aug. 14, 1952. He survives.

She worked at the DePauw University Alumni Office and as the executive secretary of the president of the university, retiring in 1994. She had taught high school in Ohio before receiving her master's degree.

She was a member of the Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, the Tuesday's Reading Circle, past president of the Putnam County Hospital Guild, served as a board member with the A-Way Home Shelter, all of Greencastle. She also served on many boards and commissions for the South Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons Thomas Eccles, Phoenix, and Bruce Eccles and wife Jenny, Westfield; brother Ronald Wann and wife Alice, Orwell, Ohio; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will take place at 4 p.m. on Monday at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. P.T. Wilson officiating.

Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
