Evelyn S. Spencer, 88, Greencastle, died Friday at her residence at Asbury Towers.
Born in Fillmore, she was the daughter of David Thomas and Ruth Irene (Lawson) Shuck.
She was a 1938 graduate of Greencastle High School, and had worked at the Farm Bureau Co-op in Greencastle as a bookkeeper for 15 years. She also worked as a secretary at the Putnam County Board of Health for 25 years, retiring in September 1985. She was a member of Friends of the Library, BPW and Greencastle Alumni Association.
She married Elmer "Bob" Spencer on Aug. 8, 1942. He survives.
Also surviving are sisters Dorothy Veach and husband Richard, Bainbridge, and Melba Hanlon, Plainfield; brother Phillip Shuck and wife Joan, Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
Private family services will be conducted.
Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, is in charge of arrangements.
