Bernice Hawkins, 94, West Lafayette, died Sunday at Westminster Village.

Born in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Ellsworth and Ida C. (Johnson) Stover.

She graduated from Wea High School and from Purdue University in 1934. She taught at Oakland Elementary School in Lafayette from 1936-40.

She married Harry L. Hawkins on Dec. 25, 1940 in Chicago. They resided in Greencastle until his death on Sept. 13, 1984. She then moved to West Lafayette.

She was a past member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church in Greencastle and Alpha Phi Sorority.

Surviving are 3 nieces.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Stover.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencas-tle, with celebrant Cynthia Wilcox officiating.
