A free pair of running shoes goes along with a fitness walk to promote healthy lifestyles.

Set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6 on the People Pathways Trail in Greencastle, the FYCDP Walk-A-Thon is sponsored by the Family Youth and Community Development Program.

Sign up and shoe distribution begins at 8 a.m. at the FYCDP Center, located at 605 Crown St. across from Ridpath Primary School.

The walk will begin at the Ace Hardware parking lot, following the People Pathways trail to the Big Walnut Sports Park.

Individuals can sign up for $20 and receive a pair of running shoes. Families can sign up for $50 with participating family members each reaching a pair of running shoes.

Sponsors can also donate $20 to provide a pair of shoes to either a youth or senior citizen.

All funds raised will go toward programs at the FYCDP Center, which provides after-school tutoring, activities for senior citizens and youth, computer training, sports and arts programs, as well as an annual Jazz Fest on Labor Day Weekend.
