Man taken to PCH following accident

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

An accident on State Road 42 resulted in an injury for an Indianapolis man.

At 9:42 p.m. Monday, Putnam County Sheriff's deputies and Cloverdale Township Fire Dept. were dispatched to the accident on State Road 42, east of U.S. 231.

The reported accident occurred two miles into Morgan County on State Road 42.

According to Nick Sullivent, Deputy Marshal for the town of Paragon, the vehicle went off the side of the road and became caught in the fencing before it rolled several feet back into the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle, Jason Gibson, Indianapolis, had been ejected from the vehicle. Gibson could not remember if a second passenger was traveling with him or not. Units on the scene performed a search for a second victim, but it was later determined that Gibson was the sole occupant.

Sullivent told the BannerGraphic that Gibson was tested for alcohol in his system. Sullivent said that this accident was a possible case of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated case, but he would have to wait for the test results to come back.

LifeLine was also dispatched to the scene, but was later disregarded. Gibson was transported to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life. Gibson's current condition was not known at press time.
