Robbery attempted at bank

Putnam County law enforcement officials were on the lookout Friday for a suspected bank robber.

Sometime around 10 a.m. Friday, reports indicated that there had been an attempted robbery of First National Bank, 1140 Indianapolis Rd., Greencastle.

The suspect entered the bank wearing a black mask and carrying a bag and fled on foot. There were no reports of a weapon being used.

The suspect, according to police dispatches, fled on foot north on Round Barn Road before heading back south in what appeared to be an older model red Jeep Cherokee.

Similar vehicles were spotted in the surrounding area matching the description of the getaway vehicle.
