A jury trial has been rescheduled for the Center Point man charged in connection with the June 4 automobile accident that killed a Putnam County teen.

Putnam County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere told the BannerGraphic that Michael William Knight's original jury trial was scheduled for Tuesday. It was moved to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 after defense attorney Darrell Felling filed a motion of continuance on Sept. 20.

Knight was alleged to have been driving the vehicle that crashed west of Cloverdale on County Road 1000 South near County Road 200 West last June, killing 19-year-old Elizabeth Wehrheim and injuring Keanon Dickison, 19, and Nathan Archer, 24.

The charges against Knight include failing to stop after an accident resulting in death, driving while intoxicated causing death, causing serious bodily injury when driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated endangering a person.

If convicted, Knight could face up to 16 years in prison.
