Greencastle competes at IU invitational

BLOOMINGTON -- The Greencastle boy and girls' track and field teams took part in the Indiana University relays on Saturday after getting rained out on Friday.

Andy Weatherford led the boys' team with first place finish in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:18.92, which is currently the fastest time in the state. He placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.50.

The boys' team finished in ninth with 26 points while the girls' team finished with 18 points for 11th.

Laura Weatherford paced the girls' team with a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.73 and a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.12.

Hannah Serlin finished seventh in the one-mile race with a time of 5:42.68 while Erica Soster took home eighth place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 52.44.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Serlin, Megan Clodfelter, Weatherford and Bethany Schroeder placed fourth with a time of 4:18.237.

Quinn Fenlon picked up where he left off last season, jumping 6-foot-6-inches, placing second in the high jump competition.

The Tiger Cubs will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to North Montgomery High School for a dual meet starting at 4:30 p.m.
