DPU takes down Earlham

RICHMOND -- The DePauw University field hockey team earned a 6-1 victory at Earlham Tuesday to improve to 8-5 on the season.

Becca Gaines and Allison Baccich each scored twice in the game.

Gaines and Jen Snow put the Tigers ahead 2-0 in the first half. Beth Seegers had the assist on the first goal.

Baccich made it a 3-0 contest on an assist from Meredith Ellis before Gaines scored her second goal of the game, unassisted, to put the Tigers ahead 4-0.

Earlham's Becca Jordan scored the Quakers' lone goal with eight minutes remaining in the game on an assist from Liz Buehler, but Baccich scored her second goal of the game with an assist from Carolyn Mueller.

Catherine Joliat rounded out the scoring for the Tigers on an assist from Seegers with less than a minute remaining in the game.

DePauw outshot the Quakers, 25-9, and had a 13-4 advantage in corners.

Kaitlin Thomure had four saves for DePauw, and Katherine McDonough had 11 for Earlham.

The Tigers will be in action again on Friday when they travel to Washington & Jefferson.
