On senior night, the Greencastle varsity volleyball team defeated Owen Valley in four games Monday, 25-23, 13-25, 25-12, 26-24. The win improves the Tiger Cubs' record to 19-6 on the season.

"A win is a win," Greencastle coach Trish Lowe said. "This was a typical slow start on Monday."

Leading the way for the Tiger Cubs, Kelsey Hennette was 18-for-20 serving, had 13 points, 20 assists, 31 digs, five blocks and six kills. Megan Clodfelter was 17-for-18 serving with 10 points and 26 digs, while Lauren Robertson added 14 kills and 22 digs.

"The girls did a great job digging up the ball and keeping it in play," Lowe said. "We just had trouble finishing."

Olivia Miller was 14-for-14 serving with 12 kills, 10 blocks and six points. In her final regular season game at Greencastle, Alysa Hile also had a big game, with 15 assist and 25 digs.

In junior varsity action, the Tiger Cubs lost in two games, 25-19, 25-23.

Savanna Provine was 10-for-10 serving with five assists and eight digs. Erika Collins was 11-for-11 serving with three aces, three kills and seven digs, while Carmen Cross added 12 digs in the match. Other defensive standouts included Sarah Land and Brooke Lewis with 13 and eight digs, respectively.

The Tiger Cubs hit the court again on Thursday at Riverton Parke at 6 p.m.

Clovers fall to Sparkplugs

The Cloverdale varsity volleyball team lost a tough match to Speedway Monday in three games, 25-8, 25-17, 25-12.

"Speedway is by far the best team we have seen this year," Cloverdale coach Kathy Moore said. "They are big and they are extremely tough at the net. We just couldn't stop them."

Leading the Clovers from the service line, Emily Puffer had five points and three aces. Defensively, Stephanie Tutterow had nine digs, while Samantha Garrison and Hannah Monnett had eight digs each.

In junior varsity action, the Clovers lost in three games, 25-11, 24-25, 15-13.

Whitney Bond had 12 points, two aces and two kills, while Alesha Evans had 11 points, two aces, two kills and four digs. Maria Skiles contributed nine points, two aces, one kill and 10 assists in the match.

The Clovers host Linton Thursday at 6 p.m.
