The West Central Conference recently rewarded several players from the Putnam County for earning honors in the conference.

For the boys' soccer team, eight players from Putnam County were selected for the WCC team. Jake Berry, Joel Bottom, Patrick Eitelorge and Patrick Rud made the team from Greencastle. This year's Tiger Cubs team won the WCC for the first time in school history.

From North Putnam, Chris Gambill, Jeremy McKinley, Jeremy Roseman and Craig Wood made this year's team.

For the girls' soccer team, eight more players from Greencastle and North Putnam made the team this year. Jamie Grivas, Alys Moore, Kristen Ness and Sheridan Woodall made the team from Greencastle while Sheila Diebold, Chelsea Greene, Brook Miller and Shay Skene made the team from North Putnam.

The WCC boys' cross country team this year was dominated by Greencastle, North Putnam and South Putnam runners. The Tiger Cubs had four runners on the team in Andy Weatherford, David Brooks, Mark Jedele and Camron Humphreys. Weatherford also placed 10th in the state cross country finals this, along with winning his third straight sectional and WCC title this year. Bo Jackson also earned honors in the conference, while the Cloverdale's Craig Blair and Gerrit Graff also made the team.

The girls WCC cross country team consisted of nine runners from the four county schools. Cloverdale placed Chelsie Haltom, who won the WCC title this year, along with Brynlea Mattocks on the team this year. South Putnam had the most runners on the team this season in Shannon Egold, Cassie Davis, Sarah Beasley and Mary Earnest. Mackenzie Pearson represented North Putnam on the team, while Greencastle's Bethany Schroeder also made the squad.

For the all conference volleyball team this year, Cloverdale had two players make it in Emily Puffer and Hannah Monnett, while Greencastle sent two of its players to the team in Megan Clodfelter and Olivia Miller. South Putnam's C.J. Searles also made the team, while Tara Thornburg represents the Cougars on the squad.

The girls golf team consists of an elite group of golfers from the county. Stacy Query, Courtney Williams and Megan Arnold represented the Clover this year, while the Cougars were represented by Alyssa Simpson. South Putnam had two of its golfers make the team in Emily Zimmerman and Dara Booe. Greencastle had one player make it in Jeanette Jones. Jones also advanced to the regional competition this year as well.

The football team also had a number of county players make the team. Leading the way, South Putnam had the most county players make the cut, making it to the sectional championship this year, before losing to Tri-West. The players are Byrce Birkemeier, Drew Christy, Matt Hicks, Chris Nichols, and Anthony Tomasino. North Putnam had four players make the team this year. They were Brayden Dahlstrom, Cory Fordice, Riley McGaughey and Tyler Trent. Three players from the Clovers team made the team this year in Christian Cheatham, Chase Haltom and Mitich Warner. Greencastle rounded out the selection with two players making it from its team -- Chase Dunigan and Brian Troyer.
