Shirley Ann Secrest Starr, 70, Brazil, formerly of Putnam County, died Sunday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital
Born in Knox City, Mo., she was the daughter of Clarence Lee Smith and Eva Dale (Small) Smith. She worked for many years for DePauw University as a cook for several sorority and fraternity houses. She also worked at the Monon Grill and Gould's Market before working at Lone Star Industries.She retired from there in 1991.
On June 26, 1981, she married Marion Starr Sr. He survives.
Also surviving are children Mike and Barb Secrest, Mark and Cindy Secrest, Ron and Jacki Secrest, and Teresa and Scott Smith; stepchildren, Marion Starr Jr., Lisa Ellen Starr and Teresa Lynn Starr; a sister, Jean Sheldon; a brother, Ken Smith;11 grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Don Smith and Paul Tusungana, sisters Lou Franks, Eva Dale Toy and Karen Rominger, and stepson James Allen Starr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Brett Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday prior to services.
