DePauw women dominate Fontbonne

The DePauw women scored the first 15 points of Tuesday's game against visiting Fontbonne and never looked back en route to a 113-48 victory.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Griffins dropped to 0-2.

The Tigers tallied 52 points in the first half, four more points than Fontbonne had for the entire game. The Tigers also broke their previous single-game record for points, which was 109 against Webster in 1996.

DePauw shot 45-of-73 from the field (63 percent) while limiting the Griffins to 18-of-41. DPU was 7-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Liz Bondi paced the Tigers with 18 points in only 18 minutes of action while Jenna Fernandez and Cassie Pruzin each had 13. Emily Marshall also had 10 points.

Caitlin McGonigal finished with a game-high seven rebounds, while Suzy Doughty matched a career-high with nine assists to go along with five steals and nine points.

Kate Evers led Fontbonne with 14 points while Lauren Crain tallied 12. Amber Karnes also had 10 points while Rosemary Patterson had six boards.

The Tigers forced Fontbonne into 34 turnovers in the contest.

DePauw is ranked third in the D3hoops.com poll and fifth in the coaches' poll.

The Tigers will face St. Elizabeth (N.J.) in the first round of the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament at 8 p.m. Saturday. Rose-Hulman will take on Denison at 6 p.m.

The finals will be played Sunday.
