Traffic was diverted on Interstate 70 in Putnam County Friday night following an accident that killed a man.
Indiana State Police Cpl. Wiley Mimms, with the ISP Putnamville District, told the BannerGraphic that a pedestrian was struck by a semi tractor trailer and killed in the westbound lanes at around 7 p.m.
The accident occurred at the 56-mile marker in Morgan County. Mimms said the person, likely a male, has not been identified.
"We don't know what he was doing out there," Mimms said. "We just know he was hit."
At the same time, a woman was killed in a car accident at the 72-mile marker of the interstate, causing major back-ups in western Indiana all evening.
