Indiana-based Marsh Supermarkets announced recently that is has reopened its Lobill Foods in Danville as a discount grocery store, a company spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Connie Gardner, director of community relations for Marsh, told the BannerGraphic that items from several central Indiana grocery stores that went out of business last month have been taken to the Danville store and are being sold at reduced prices.

The store is open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located on Old U.S. 36 next to Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

Meanwhile, Gardner said Marsh has no plans to reopen the Greencastle Lobill store, however, they are looking for a buyer.

"We are currently marketing that building," Gardner said.

The Greencastle Lobill was closed in November along with 15 other stores in the Midwest.

Marsh officials said the closings were a result of the company trying to improve its financial performance. They said the stores that were chosen for closing were those that were not meeting their requirements for sales or lacked the potential for future growth.
