Cougars improve to 2-7

CAYUGA - The North Putnam Cougars girls' basketball team improved to 2-7 on the season with a win against North Vermillion, 64-36, Tuesday night.

Ashley Pietras pulled down eight boards while scoring eight points in the game. Shawna Johnston and Taylor Alles helped the Cougars by scoring seven and six points respectively.

Another huge reason for North Putnam's victory was the difference in steals and turnovers. The Cougars stole the ball 25 times as opposed to the Falcons' five. Usually a killer for the Cougars, turnovers helped ground the Falcons' as they committed 30 turnovers against North's 15.

Defense came up big for the Cougars also as they allowed North Vermillion a skimpy 12 points in the second half. They also help the Falcons to shooting 26.8 percent from the floor and 33 percent from the line.
