Tiger men defeat Illinois Tech
Auston Brown exploded for 27 points to lead the DePauw University men's basketball team past Illinois Tech, 84-63, at home Sunday.
The win is DePauw seventh this season next to just one loss. DPU is ranked 24th in the nation. The Scarlet Hawks dropped to 3-9 with the loss.
Brown scored 21 of his career-high in points in the first half as the Tigers shot 68 percent from the floor in the first stanza to take a 53-18 lead.
Three other Tigers were in double figures as Reid Sakel finished with 13, and Stephen Schott and Matt McDonald both had 10.
Schott paced the Tigers on the glass, grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Moore also had a team-high five assists and three steals. Sakel also had three thefts.
Jeremy Nixon led Illinois Tech with 20 points while Bobby McQueen had 14. Sasha Sudar recorded a double-double, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds.
DePauw shot 53 percent from the floor and hit 11-of-22 from beyond the arc. Brown and Sakel were both 4-for-5 from three-point range in the victory.
The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday when they face Kenyon on the road at 2 p.m.
