Take trees to yard waste site

Tuesday, December 26, 2006

Putnam County residents are being reminded that they can drop off used Christmas trees, at no charge, beginning today and continuing through Jan. 14 at the Greencastle yard waste drop-off site, located on the south side of Veterans Memorial Highway across from Greencastle Middle School.

The West Central Solid Waste District, who manages the yard waste site, asks that you remove all lights, decorations and tree stands before taking your live tree to the drop-off site. This is for live trees only.

Trees will be given to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to be used for wildlife and fish habitats. For more information, call the West Central office at 653-2150.
