Hugh E. Chester

Hugh E. Chester, 97, Greencastle, died Monday at Mill Pond Health Campus.

Born in Minnesota, he was the son of Ernest and Marion (Robbie) Chester.

He had been a steamfitter/pipefitter for Local 455 in St. Paul, Minn., for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy reserve veteran of World War II.

Surviving are three daughters, Susie Booe, Greencastle, and Cindi Koneczny and Patti Coverston, both of Minnesota; four sons, Lloyd Brandt, Arizona, Wayne Brandt, Mike Chester and Ken Chester, all of Minnesota; sister Lyla Gray, Georgia; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence, Kenneth, Robert and Elmer Chester, and sisters Bernice and Ruth.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Chandler-Hays Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Michael Goss officiating.

Visitation is 4-7:30 p.m. Friday.
