Museum focus of group meeting at library Jan. 10

Thursday, December 28, 2006

Have you ever wondered how the Putnam County Museum decides what will be on display?

Find out and contribute your ideas at the first "Museum Lunch & Ideas" focus group. Bring a lunch and your exhibit ideas to the Putnam County Public Library's Kiwanis Room from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10. The library is located at 103 E. Poplar St. in Greencastle.

Why host a museum meeting at the library?  The museum hopes to hear new voices during this focus group. By meeting in the library, the Museum would like to hear from parents who take their children to the library, business people who work downtown, and anyone else who has good ideas to share. The museum is particularly interested in what will attract families and people who live outside of Greencastle.

During the one- hour session, the museum will present its plans for 2007 exhibits. Then the meeting will break into smaller groups to solicit feedback and ideas for exhibits in 2008 and 2009 and to discuss two upcoming exhibits "Marj & Richard Peeler: A Retrospective" (May 2007) and "Communities of Faith" (Fall 2007).

The results of the focus group will be shared with the museum's Exhibit Committee to create the 2008-2009 exhibit calendars and by the volunteers and staff who will create the 2007 exhibits.
