Home rehab project organizing Jan. 13

Rebuilding Together, a new organization being formed in Putnam and Owen counties, has scheduled its kickoff breakfast for 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ind. 42, one mile west of U.S. 231.

The organization is the largest home rehabilitation organization in America, with chapters in all 50 states. Rebuilding Together rehabilitates the houses of low income home owners, especially those who are elderly, disabled or families with children. Its goal is to help as many families as possible live in warmth, safety and independence.

The group works on the last Saturday in April. On that day, volunteers come together to complete the repairs of selected homes. Repairs can be anything, including a new roof to planting flowers or raking a yard.

All organizations, churches and individuals are invited to attend the kickoff breakfast.

For more information, call Pastor Tom Woodley at 765-721-4587.

Boil order

A boil order for Putnam County residents south of Greencastle could be pulled by Thursday.

Different drummers

A free send-off concert by the DePauw Percussion Ensemble is set for 6 o'clock tonight in Kresge Auditorium of the Performing Arts Center.

The audience will be seated on the stage, providing a close-up perspective of the huge array of traditional and unusual percussion instruments that will be used.

On Thursday, the ensemble departs for a 23-day tour of five European countries. The concert is open to the public.
