Monday, January 15, 2007

The Putnam County Community Foundation awarded the Care Net Pregnancy Center (CPC) with a $4,000 matching grant to build its endowment by $12,000.

Contributions and gifts made to the CPC endowment will be matched, one dollar from the Community Foundation for every two dollars given by the public, from Dec. 1, 2006 to Nov. 30, 2007 up to a cumulative dollar amount of $12,000.

CPC offers services free-of-charge to anyone without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, disability or any circumstance. Clients may receive free pregnancy tests and information about pregnancy, fetal development, lifestyle issues and related concerns. For clients who need it, material assistance is available in the form of items donated to CPC including but not limited to maternity clothing, baby clothing, diapers, formula, baby food, baby furniture and other items.

"The Endowment Builder Program is a wonderful opportunity for CPC to build towards its financial future and remain a vital resource for the communities of Putnam County for years to come," said Shelly McFadden, CPC Executive Director. "CPC plans to use money from our endowment fund at the Community Foundation for general operating expenses to keep the CPC open to our clients and continue to offer services to them free-of-charge."

With an endowment at the Community Foundation, contributions are never spent, but are invested and provide a charity with stable funding forever. "The James Hammond CPC endowment provides steady, sustainable funding from generous donors in the community who care about the CPC and services it provides," said Eric Wolfe, Community Development Director for the Community Foundation. "This matching gift opportunity increases the impact of every contribution to the endowment."

Anyone wishing to contribute to the CPC endowment and having gifts matched can send contributions to the Putnam County Community Foundation c/o James Hammond CPC Endowment Fund, 2 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, 46135. Gifts other than cash, including realized planned gifts, will also be matched by the Community Foundation. Call for more information.
