Local art show features Herrold

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Local painter, illustrator, author and designer Jennifer Herrold will be showcasing some of her recent work at Peet's Coffee Shop inside of the Walden Inn at 2 W. Seminary St. in Greencastle.

The opening is Thursday, Jan. 25 from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m.

The event will also feature Fret Set, a local bluegrass band.

On display will be 10 paintings depicting people and animals in unusual circumstances. Herrold describes the artwork as a mix of the surreal and a little fantastic. Most of them were completed between 2005 and 2006, but one of them is from this year.

Some of the paintings titles include "The House of Wigs and Snakes" and "Eels on a Snowy Day." Each of the works of art will be for sale and wine will be served as well.

Herrold's website, www.squidattack.com/jherrold, offers a unique glimpse into some of the work she has previously produced and sold.

Other items for purchase include "Greetings from Greencastle," a postcards series, and copies of her latest book "Nearsighted Ned and the Goody Girls."

"The Inconspicuous" toupee (with chin strap) will also be on sale. The gag gift was made by Herrold and can be seen at the Archie McPhee website, www.mcphee.com.
