Blanche Joan Miller, 74, Fillmore, died Wednesday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of Walter and Ila (Hansel) Fitzwater. She married Dale Ross Miller on Aug. 18, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1985.

A graduate of Wingate High School, she was a member of the first flag squad in Indiana.

She was a lifelong member of the Indiana Extension Homemakers, serving as county president from 1987-88; a charter member of West Floyd Club; member of the Town & Country and Philomath clubs. She was a member of the Past Presidents Club and remained active in many statewide activities. She also worked for the State Highway for several years at the Plainfield rest area.

Survivors include a son, Robert "Bob" Miller and wife Virginia, Fillmore; a grandson; a sister, Neva McCorkle, Wingate; and a brother, Jonathon Fitzwater, Boise, Idaho.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Christine Marie Bumgardner, and a brother, Harvey Fitzwater.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with burial following at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
