DPU women ready for Centre

The DePauw University women's basketball team faces a short weekend coming up as the Tigers play only one game.

On Saturday, DPU will travel to Centre for a 1 p.m. start.

Both teams are on oppositte ends of the conference spectrum this year. The Tigers are 8-1 in league play and 18-2 overall while Centre is 2-7 in the conference and 5-12.

Centre has not been able to sustain a winning streak this year at all.

Offensively, the team is paced by Chelsea Goodman's 13.5 points, but she is averaging 15.4 in SCAC games.

In addition, Chrystal Claunch is averaging 9.3 points but 11.1 in league contests. Monica Vonder-brink also averages 6.2 points per game.

As a team, Centre averages 56.8 points per contest, but oly 55.2 in SCAC games. Centre also gives up 68.4 points per game, but SCAC opponents have fared better, scoring 69.6 per game.

DePauw will head into the game riding a six-game winning streak.

The Tigers sit on top of the SCAC standings, one-half game ahead of Hendrix. DePauw's only conference loss this season came at Oglethorpe on Jan. 7.

Offensively, DePauw is averaging 80.6 points per game while allowing opponents to score only 55.1.

Liz Bondi leads the Tiger attack, averaging 15.1 points per contest. She is the only DPU player to average in double figures.

Cassie Pruzin chips in 9.2 while Caitlin McGonigal scores 8.6 and Bridget Bailey averages 7.3.

In addition, the Tigers get 7.8 points, 6.2 assists, 2.4 rebounds from Suzy Doughty. Doughty also has tallied 54 steals this season.
