South Putnam diver misses out on trip to state finals

AVON -- South Putnam senior diver Shelby Johnston competed in the IHSAA diving regionals at Avon High School Wednesday night, but failed to advance.

Johnston's combined score of 184 was not enough to move her to the next round. Amy Cozad of Decatur Central High School grabbed top honors with a dive total of 395 and was followed by Jessica Squires of Centerville High School with a 379.60 total.

Johnston qualified for the regionals by finishing in fourth place at the Crawfordsville Sectional last week with a dive total of 285.15.
