Local assistance going to needy family

A Greencastle family will be traveling to the New Orleans area next week to deliver relief to a family still struggling after Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home and added to their health problems.

Anyone wanting to send assistance can contact Greencastle Presbyterian Church at 653-5713 or Susan and Andy Lorimer at D&S Tree Service at 653-2851.

Any donations need to be made by noon Monday.



Postponed

The South Putnam Community Education Foundation will postpone its Family Spaghetti Dinner originally set for tonight (Thursday) due to the inclement weather.

The event will be rescheduled at a later date.



Meeting Thursday

The Greencastle School Board postponed its regular monthly meeting until 7:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at Miller Education Center, 522 Anderson St.

The meeting was delayed due to Wednesday's snow emergency.

The meeting is open to the public.



Inspection canceled

The meeting of Putnam County officials to inspect old Bridge 159 at Reelsville on Thursday was canceled due to weather.



Cake Auction postponed

The cake auction planned for Saturday by northern Putnam County Girl Scouts has been postponed, and a new date will be announced later.

The event had been set for Saturday afternoon at Tzouanakis School in Greencastle. A new date for the fundraising event will be announced when scheduled.
