John Douglas Coffin, 54, Crawfordsville, died Sun-day at his aunt's residence at Ladoga after a two-year battle with cancer.

Born in Norfolk, Va, he was the son of Robert and Goldie (Miller) Coffin.

He graduated from Ladoga High School in 1970, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-74 in Dover, Del., then served in the U.S. Navy from 1974-90. He retired in 1990, then worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Crawfordsville.

His memberships included Eagles Aerie 1005, American Legion Post 72, and VFW Post 1431, where he served as post commander in 2003-04, all of Crawfordsville.

Surviving are two daughters Claire Blanken-ship and husband Kris, New Ross, and Roberta Coffin at Indianapolis; a son Thadeus Coffin and wife Amanda, Crawfordsville; sister Michelle Coffin, Crawfordsville; two grandsons, and companion Kathy Billingsley, Craw-fordsville.

Services are planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Ladoga, with Chaplain Dave Claton officiating.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
