Wayne C. Geabes, 81, Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Greencastle, died Monday at Hospice house in Cape Coral, Fla.

Born in Greencastle, he was the son of Arthur M. and Helen (Ash) Gaeves.

A 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as owner of Putnam Motors in 1987 after beginning that career in 1949 as a salesman.

He married Joan Glover on Oct. 30, 1948. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie Geabes and friend Richard York, Fort Myers, Fla.; a son, Steve Geabes, Greencastle; three sisters, Virginia Hetser and husband Jim, and Doris Stites, both of Greencastle, and Cornelia Ley and husband Earl, Clay City; and everal nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with Rev. Steve Williams officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sundy at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
