NPMS eighth-grade knocks off Cloverdale

CLOVERDALE -- The North Putnam eighth-grade girls basketball A team won against Cloverdale Thursday night, 31-16. The win improved the Cougars' record to 2-5 on the season.

North Putnam was led by Paxton Stephenson with nine points. Megan Robinson and Morgan McLaughlin each had six points for the Cougars.

Taylor Judy chipped in five points and Brianna Bryan and Katherine Oliver each had two points. Shelby Frye had one point in the win.

Cloverdale was paced by Kristen Stokes with five points while Katelynn Johnson had four.

North Putnam will meet up with South Putnam next Tuesday at 6 p.m. while Cloverdale will travel to Eminence to play in the seventh and eighth-grade A team tournament at 9.a.m.

Clovers trump Cougars for eighth win of season

The Cloverdale Clovers seventh-grades girls dominated from the early moments against North Putnam and went on to win, 30-4, at home.

The Clovers held a 20-0 lead at the half and allowed the Cougars to score two points in each of the final quarters.

Angela Hacker led the Clovers with 10 points followed closely by Cameron Mann with eight points and Paige Gutierrez had four points. The Cloverdale trio of Mariah Neese, Brooke Gray and Katie Fulkerson scored two points each.

For the Cougars, Mackensy Asbell and Karlie Gray scored two points each.

GMS defeats Monrovia

Despite having 21 turnovers, the Greencastle Middle School girls seventh-grade A squad defeated Monrovia, 25-17, at home Thursday night.

Hannah Wainman had a game-high nine points to led the Tiger Cubs. Taylor Pruitt had seven while Kallie Brattain and Riley Seahorn had five and four points respectively.

The Bulldogs were led by Brooke Miller with eight points as Bobbie Rhodes chipped in six. Kelsey Schultz had two and Kate Hunter scored one.

In eighth-grade action, Greencastle defeated Monrovia, 22-10 to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Mallory Miller led the Tiger Cubs with 10 points. Chelsea Samuels scored nine while Hannah Cochren tallied three. Hannah Deer had first half rebounds for Greencastle.
