Tigers notch fourth win of year

GREENCASTLE -- On Sunday, the DePauw University baseball squad improved to 4-5 after knocking off Manchester at home, 5-4.

The victory was the Tigers' fourth straight after opening the season with five setbacks.

Brad Gerlach picked up the win for the Tigers. In two innings of relief, he allowed just one hit.

Manchester took a 2-0 lead after two innings, but the Tigers cut the lead to one with one run in the bottom of the third.

Manchester added two more runs in the top of the fourth but the Tigers closed the gap with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

DePauw took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the eighth.

DePauw finished the game with eight hits. Mike Stout, Matt Kleine both had two hits each and Stout had a double.

Jack Gaving also was 1-for-3 while driving in three runs.

John Tschantz started the game for the Tigers and lasted six innings.

He allowed four runs off five hits and three walks while striking out two.

Paul Rodenhouse pitched the final inning to earn his first save of the season. He had one strikeout.

DePauw (4-5) will host Wabash Wednesday, beginning at 3 p.m.
