DePauw edges by Washington, 5-4

ST. LOUIS -- The DePauw University men's tennis team, ranked sixth in the nation, picked up its sixth win of the season Saturday after slipping by Washington, 5-4, Saturday.

At No. 1 singles, Evan Webeler knocked off Charlie Cutler, 7-6, 6-4, while Bryan Heck beat Nirmal Choradia at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 6 singles, Scott Sauer beat Charlie Howard, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.

In doubles play, Webeler and Scott Swanson defeated Chris Hoeland and Cutler, 8-6, at No. 1 while Kortney Keith and Jeff Zanchelli won at No. 2, 8-1. At No. 3 doubles, Heck and Scott Sandager won, 8-4.

The Tigers (6-3) face Southern Indiana at home Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Doubles -- Webeler/Swanson (DPU) def. Cutler/Hoeland 8-6; Keith/Zanchelli (DPU) def. Bowman/Choradid 8-1; Heck/Sandager (DPU) def. Howard/Watts 8-4.

Next Match -- The Tigers (6-3) face Southern Indiana at home Tuesday at 4 p.m.
