MEMPHIS -- DePauw baseball began SCAC play at 2-0 with a sweep of a doubleheader over Rhodes by scores of 4-2 and 8-5. The Tigers moved to 10-6 and ended Rhode's 16-game winning streak, while the Lynx dropped to 22-4 and 8-2 in conference.
Jeremy Alland moved to 2-1 on the season, allowing five hits over 6 2/3 innings. Paul Rodenhouse collected his fourth save. Andy Holt dropped to 7-1 with the loss.
A Kyle Thompson RBI single gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the second, while J.R. Bizzell countered with an RBI triple in the third.
Adam Ford's two-run double in the sixth gave DePauw a 3-1 lead before Matt Beesley's run-scoring double in the bottom half made it 3-2. The Tigers closed the scoring in the seventh with an RBI double from Chris Newman.
Matt Kleine and Jack Gavin each had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Bizzell collected two for Rhodes.
In the second game, Mike Stout put DePauw up in the first with a run-scoring groundout, but Rhodes took a 2-1 lead in the second with a Brooks Royer two-run double.
DePauw took control with five in the third and two more in the fourth. Stout, Ford and Gavin hit consecutive doubles to make it 5-2 before Jon Newman singled home Gavin. In the fourth, Stout drove in one with a single, then Ford added another with a double.
Rhodes scored one in the fifth and two in the seventh, but Rodenhouse earned his fifth save with a scoreless 1 2/3 innings.
John Tschantz improved to 2-0 with the win, while Chris Catalanotto dropped to 3-1.
Stout collected three hits and 4 RBI for the Tigers, while Kleine, Ford and Newman each had two of DePauw's 12 hits.
Mason Mosby, Beesley and Brett Miller each had two of Rhodes' eight hits.
