South baseball defeats Cloverdale in opener

Cloverdale -- Adam Nees went five innings and struck out 13 for South Putnam on his way to the victory as the Eagles defeated Cloverdale 14-4 in the baseball opener for each team. Cody Nees picked up the loss for the Clovers.

Offensively, Adam Nees went 3 -for-4 and scored four times. John Davidson had two hits and two runs scored. Brad Eickhoft went 2-for-5 with a solo home run.

Davidson also pitched two innings of relief, allowing no runs and striking out four.

For the Clovers, Chad Cummings picked up four hits, followed by Josh Flory, Brandon Mescall, Cody Nees and Bryce Butcher with two each.
