Friday, April 6, 2007

Staff reports

Yesterday's continued cold temperatures led to a story which has become all to familiar this week -- weather-related sports cancellations and postponements.

Tuesday's storms were only the beginning. The lingering cold that came next have continued to lead to cancelations all week.

Cloverdale's softball game with Owen Valley has been rescheduled until 4:30 p.m. April 15. The Clovers' baseball game with Shakamak has been postponed indefinitely.

Greencastle's softball games with Edgewood, scheduled for yesterday, has been postponed until 4:30 p.m. May 3. The Greencastle junior varsity baseball game with North Putnam has been rescheduled for April 13 and moved to North Putnam. Additionally, the IU track invitational in which the Tiger Cubs were to compete has been canceled. Greencastle has also postponed tomorrow's baseball doubleheader with Southmont. No makeup date has been established.

At North Putnam, track with Indianapolis Ritter, baseball with Turkey Run and softball with Eminence have all been postponed. The softball game will be played at 11 a.m. April 21. No makeup dates have been set for track or baseball.

South Putnam postponed its track meet with Northview and Owen Valley. No makeup date is set.

From earlier postponements this week, the Greencastle and North Putnam softball game originally set for Tuesday, then Wednesday, will be played at 4:30 p.m. April 12. The baseball game between the two schools will be played at 4:30 p.m. April 13, with a junior varsity, then a varsity game.

At DePauw, the track and field DePauw Quad at Blackstock Stadium was canceled. The men's tennis match at Indiana Wesleyan has also been postponed indefinitely.
