Wednesday, April 18, 2007

A Greencastle man was charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a class B felony, in Clay Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon.

Arrested in Putnam County on an unrelated charge, Billy H. Webster, 33, was transferred to Clay County Justice Center for a warrant issued after an investigation conducted by the Brazil City Police Dept.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit filed by Police Chief Mark Loudermilk, Webster allegedly has been involved in a year-long relationship with a 14-year-old juvenile from Clay County.

Although the victim would not verify any sexual contact, a witness told authorities Webster was seen having intercourse with the juvenile.

Webster, charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a class B felony, pleaded not guilty before Judge Joseph Trout.

Attorney Jim Organ was appointed as defense counsel with pre-trial conference set for July 24 and a jury trial scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Aug. 27.

Webster remains in jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
