'Bye, Bye Birdie' flies at North Putnam

North Putnam Thespian Troupe 1478 will present the musical comedy "Bye, Bye Birdie" on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Putnam Gymnasium.

Tickets are $5 for all admissions and will be available at the door.

The show is loosely based on the events surrounding the time when Elvis Presley was drafted. Conrad Birdie (the Elvis clone) is played by Cameron Maynard. Conrad's manager and his girlfriend are played by Dustin Gardner and Allison Dreshfield. Kelley O'Hair as Kim MacAfee is the lucky girl who will receive Conrad's last kiss before he is inducted. Chris Humphries plays Hugo, Kim's boyfriend.

Rounding out the cast are Matt Willard and Kate Zehner as Mr. and Mrs. MacAfee, with on Randolph (Jared James). Other members of the cast include Meagan Murphy, Brianna Smith, Cari Deyo, Rachel Smith, Alex Lance, Hal Salisbury, Rachel Smith, Dylan Cooksey, Cecily Passow, Roxanne Long, Christine Anderson, Karissa Compton, Brandi Powers, Jessica Mundy, Harley Carnes, Kristin Mindiola, Katlyn Lawyer, Amber Jones, Brian Hubbard, Jennifer Ashmore, Shelby Hall, Portia Bingman, Taylor Badten, Ellese Cox, Jaclyn Roush, Elizabeth Stein, Taylor Smith, Madison Carnes and Rebecca Kelley.

Crew duties will be supervised by Jessica Hubbard, Liz Brown, Jennifer Hubbard, Rachel Kohlcheck and Emily Haas.

The production is directed by Linda Gjesvold with assistance from Serena Crum. Rachel Fox provides vocal direction and choreography. The North Putnam music department will provide orchestration under the direction of David Knott and pianist Amy Tharp.

Artwork representing the high school classes will be on display in the cafeteria both nights to be viewed before the show or during intermission.
